Nexus Body Arts is the connection between body, mind, spirit, and self. It is the place between the ritual of body modification and the aesthetic of adornment. Nexus was born out of a desire to create a space that allows people of all walks of life, all abilities, all races, all sexualities, all gender identities, and all ages to find a place in their journeys to celebrate and explore themselves through body modification. The idea behind Nexus was to be the connection point between such a diverse group of clients, team members, experiences, mentalities, and lives. We want to encourage you to embrace your authentic self through the power of body piercing.

Lynn Loheide is a professional piercer currently based out of Seattle, Washington. They have been piercing all over the world since 2012, and focus primarily on education, inclusivity, and empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their bodies. Whether it is a first earlobe piercing, a full face setup, or a more complex modification, Lynn believes that there is an inherent strength felt when people look in the mirror after a service, and hopes to share that with all of their clients.

Lynn has become a specialist in gender-affirming piercing, championing the use of body modification to explore and celebrate self-expression and empowerment. As a transgender person themselves, this has become a core tenet of Lynnโ€™s approach to piercing. Their commitment to creating a welcoming and affirming space for all individuals is one they have carried throughout their career and brought to other piercers and industry professionals through online and in-person education.

Creating their blog in 2015, Lynn has committed themselves to creating resources for both clients and piercing industry professionals that emphasize safety, historical context, acknowledgement and respect, and a diverse approach to body modification. They have spoken at BMXnet in Berlin, Germany; Otautahi Symposium in Christchurch, New Zealand; Piercer Tradeshow in Liverpool, England; and co-host the Pacific Northwest Piercer Meetups alongside Colin O. They write and archive piercing history with Sacred Debris, and have contributed to multiple podcasts and interviews globally.

In 2022, with proceeds from their Patreon, Lynn launched the Front of House Scholarship for the Association of Professional Piercers conference that takes place in Las Vegas each year. This scholarship aims to emphasize the importance and value of front-of-house employees in piercing studios; from welcoming clients to styling and curating jewelry displays to managing social media and everything in between and beyond.

When they arenโ€™t piercing, Lynn is pursuing their other biggest passion, body suspension. They spend the rest of their time reading, playing table-top roleplaying games, and hanging out with their grumpy but adorably perfect cat, Girlfriend. Lynn loves to be outside and enjoys kayaking, swimming, and plenty of beach trips. They can always be found expressing themselves not just through body modification, but through fashion, makeup, and hairโ€ฆ and if you have a favorite anime, be sure to let them know during your appointment, and enjoy the geeking out that commences.

"Every man is the builder of a temple, called his body, to the god he worships, after a style purely his own, nor can he get off by hammering marble instead. We are all sculptors and painters, and our material is our own flesh and blood and bones."

โ€œHelping folks decorate themselves to feel more comfortable or confident is an experience and feeling unlike any other and I canโ€™t wait to get to feel that so much more deeply and connect with clients in a meaningful way.โ€ - Alex

Alex Isenhart has been involved in body modification in one way or another since he was a kid, excitedly following along to his momโ€™s piercing and tattoo appointments. Even being terrified of needles, he was fascinated with the process from start to finish; meeting the piercer, selecting jewelry, and the methodical and precise procedures in which the piercing was completed. As he continued his own personal journey with needles after starting HRT, he realized that he is capable of doing hard things and facing his fears, and got his first piercing, a helix. He researched piercing and modification and learned just how queer the industry is, and delved into heavier modification rituals like suspension. From there, he was hooked (donโ€™t forgive the pun, embrace it).

In 2021, Alex began working as a jewelry specialist and front of house in his home state of Washington. Over the next four years at these two well-known studios in Seattle, he honed not only his customer service skills and his industry knowledge, but also his incredible talent for curating and photographing jewelry and clients. These industry opportunities gave him the ability to establish and grow his own name in the industry, and really focus in on what he knew was going to be his aim; becoming a piercer.

In 2025, just three months after opening, Lynn Loheide of Nexus Body Arts took on Alex as their first ever piercing apprentice. Since joining the team, Alex has shown a hunger and dedication to his craft that is inspiring to both his mentor/colleagues as well as his clients. In addition to building his piercing skills, Alex is excited to learn everything about being a piercer, from critical problem solving to self regulation (you gotta take care of yourself, kids), to assisting on the NBA suspension team, and creating a safe and welcoming community space. He wants to โ€œmeet people where they are,โ€ and recognizes that not all body modification journeys are the same:

โ€Everyone has a different experience with body modification, and thatโ€™s what is so beautiful about it.โ€

Alex spends his free time being an RPG superstar (ask him about Elder Scrolls during your appointment), camping and exploring with his partner Maggie, playfully bothering his cats, Smokey and Toby, and of course, just generally being a big nerd with a passion for mods.
